
Colin is Professor of Marketing at IEDC-Bled School of Management in Slovenia and Visiting Academic at Warwick Business School, UK. He is also a faculty member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and an International Faculty Member of DukeCE, a joint venture between Duke University, US, and the London School of Economics, UK. Between 1995 and 2007 he was Professor of Strategic Management at Leicester Business School in the UK. Over and above research, his career focus has been on all forms of ‘post-experience’ education and strategy consulting with academic institutions and major corporations. This has included MBA and executive development teaching, workshop facilitation, research project co-ordination and individuals’ project supervision. He has been a guest speaker at many corporate and open events and has delivered Executive Briefings worldwide on a broad range of topics, including Strategic Marketing, Customer Focus, Market Power and Advanced Brand Management. He received the WBS ‘Outstanding MBA Teacher Award’ for 2006/2007, 2007/2008, 2008/2009 and was nominated for the coveted BP Helios award for his work on management development in the company.
Colin has published over thirty articles in the areas of International Business, Strategic Marketing Management, Services Marketing, Innovation, Brand Management and Industrial Marketing Strategy. He is co-author of the books ‘Global Business Strategies’, ‘Inside Fortress Europe: Strategies for the Single Market’ and ‘International Marketing Relationships’. He is the author of ‘Creating Organizational Advantage’ which won the prestigious MCA prize for the best business book published in 1995. He is co-editor of ‘The CIM Handbook of Strategic Marketing’ and is currently completing the forthcoming texts: ‘Managing Organizational Reputation’; ‘Total Brand Management: Route to Mind, Route to Market’.
Recently Colin worked closely as Principal Consultant and Academic Director with BP in the creation of their Sales and Marketing Academy, an initiative designed for global delivery. Previously, he co-founded and was co-academic director of The IBM Marketing University, a project which ran for nine years and educated over three thousand IBM marketing executives worldwide. Recent projects have included the design and delivery of a Marketing Excellence Programme for YKK, the Japanese fasteners company, including coaching the President-elect on ‘Leading a Marketing Organization’. Colin also provides a broad range of marketing programmes and innovation workshops to marketing professionals and non-marketing executives for all divisions of Royal Philips International and has done so since 1989.
