Seven teams representing some of the leading Slovenian companies participated in a two-day IEDC Case Study Competition (CSC), organized by IEDC Alumni Club Slovenia. After all the teams presented their final solutions of the business case, Dr. Nenad Filipović, Academic Director at IEDC-Bled School of Management, who led the competition, announced that the winning team is the one from Elektro energija Ltd, represented by Robert Jelenc, Polona Osovnikar, Damjana Mes Plestenjak, Teja Perjet, Jan Šorli and Jan Zakrajšek.

In the frame of the IEDC Alumni guest lecture, Mr. Amer Bukvić, CEO of Bosna Bank International (BBI), the first bank in Europe to operate on the principles of Islamic banking, spoke on “An Alternative View on the World of Banking: Islamic Banking”.

In the frame of the annual assembly of the Slovenian IEDC alumni club, Melanie Seier Larsen was elected as the President of IEDC Alumni Club Slovenia for the period 2012-13.

Following the initiative of Mr. Janko Medja, President of the IEDC Alumni Club Slovenia, and of Ms. Tjaša Kolenc Filipčič, President of the Section of Young Managers that is active in the frame of the Managers' Association of Slovenia, members of both clubs met at the headquarters of Zavarovalnica Triglav, the leading Slovene traditional insurance company, in order to discuss “Change management and employees’ personal development”.

After all the teams presented their final solutions of the business case, the Prof. Randy Kudar, Professor Emeritus at Richard Ivey School of Business and at IEDC-Bled School of Management, who led the CSC, announced that the winning team is the one from IBM Croatia (Tihomir Cirkvenčić, Adrian Gjergizi, Ivana Janković, Ema Logue, Zrinko Mikić).

IEDC has held the first Workshop on Arts and Leadership in Belgrade, Serbia. The event entitled “Hand-on Leadership and Teamwork” was facilitated by Prof. Arshad Ahmad, and among its participants were both the IEDC and CEEMAN’s IMTA (International Management Teachers Academy) alumni from Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia, as well as managers from Serbia interested in improving their leadership and interpersonal skill through artistic expressions.

On the occasion of the IEDC’s 25th anniversary, a Global IEDC Alumni Reunion took place in Bled. A large group of alumni, representing the IEDC alumni clubs in various countries of the world, were impressed and inspired by the keynote address by Prof. Edgar Schein, who shared a personal view on his successful career. In the frame of the event, the IEDC Alumni Achievement Awards (AAA) were given for the first time to successful graduates of IEDC: Darko Babić (Serbia), Maja Ibrišimović (BiH), Krešimir Kvaternik (Croatia), Klaus Schuster (Austria/Slovenia), and Branko Žibret (Slovenia), who then participated in a panel discussion facilitated by Prof. Arshad Ahmad, author of the AAA idea.

More than 450 business and political leaders, professors, alumni and friends of IEDC-Bled School of Management from 36 countries attended the IEDC Presidents’ Forum and ceremony dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the School, opened by the President of the Republic of Slovenia Dr. Danilo Türk. In the frame of the international conference Creating the Future, IEDC awarded honorary doctoral titles to Prof. Edgar Schein and Prof. Manfred Kets de Vries, while on the occasion of its 25th anniversary the School issued a book The vision and voices of IEDC-Bled School of Management, authored by Dr. Phil Mirvis, renowned expert on organizational psychology from the USA.

Mr. Janko Medja, Member of the Managing Board, UniCredit Bank Slovenia and IEDC MBA Alumnus, was awarded the »Young Manager of the Year« title by the Managers' Association of Slovenia.

On this occasion we would like to share with you the great news about the establishement of IEDC's rowing club. IEDC - Bled School of Management has partnered with gold medalist Luka Špik, IEDC GMP 2010 participant and his team of former world and Olympic medallists, and Miloš Janša, head coach of Slovenia men's rowing team, in order to deliver this dynamic experiential learning opportunity
