Dr. Alenka Braček Lalić has been the Vice Dean for Research since February 2017. She had been also Co-Director of EMBA study program from February 2016 till February 2019. Besides being engaged with IEDC, she has been engaged also with CEEMAN, where she has been acting as the International Quality Accreditation (IQA) Director since September 2015.
Dr. Braček Lalić holds PhD and MSc from Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana in the area of human resource management. Before joining IEDC-Bled School of Management, Postgraduate Studies and CEEMAN, she was an advisor to the Minister of Education of the Republic of Slovenia and senior advisor at the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education, where she had worked from 2011 to 2015. The preparation of her PhD thesis on “What are the impacts of internationalization of higher education on human resource management and the quality of higher education”, was funded by the European Commission. While preparing her PhD thesis, she worked as a young researcher in the business sector (RR & CO. Knowledge Centre Ltd.) (2008-2011). She gained a lot of different perspectives regarding the internationalization of higher education while she was working as an assistant for international relations at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Administration (2004-2008).
Dr. Braček Lalić is specialized in providing quality enhancement advisory services for management education institutions in emerging or recently emerged economies related to their organizational development and continuous improvement. In her position as the CEEMAN IQA Director, she has been part of accreditation procedures for management education institutions in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Russia, Poland, Latvia, China, Malaysia, and South Africa. She has also been an external evaluation expert nominated by several institutions, such as the Centre of the Republic of Slovenia for Mobility and European Educational and Training Programs, the Ministry of Education of Montenegro and the Academic Information Centre in Latvia. From December 2014 till September 2017, she had acted as the Chair of the Council at the National Education Institute of the Republic of Slovenia and since October 2016, she has been a member of the EQUAL Board.
In terms of research, Dr. Braček Lalić is currently involved in several research projects and publications run by the school. The most exciting one is related to Management and Leadership Development Needs, the project that was coordinated by Dr. Braček Lalić in 11 countries, in which the business sector listed leadership competences required for addressing the current and future business and social challenges. The findings of the can be found in the book “Business and Society Making Management Education Relevant for the 21st Century”, edited by Dr. Braček Lalić, together with Dr. Purg and Dr. Pope, and published by Springer in 2018. Dr. Braček Lalić is planning to do follow-up research on this topic, especially in terms of developing leadership competences taking into consideration the latest discoveries in neuroscience.
Dr. Braček Lalić strongly believes that leadership and organizational development cannot be achieved without coaching interventions. Therefore, she advocates (individual and team) coaching as a new style of leadership and at the same time as a necessary approach for increasing organizational performance and for developing leadership competences. She started with developing her coaching competences in 2017 by attending ICF Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP) and continued with becoming a member of International Coach Federation and conducting peer coaching and team coaching sessions for EMBA participants at IEDC-Bled School of Management, Postgraduate Studies.
