IEDC at the 15th Annual CEEMAN Conference in Istanbul
Istanbul (Turkey), 29 September 2007
CEEMAN, the international management development association based at IEDC-Bled School of Management, in partnership with Sabanci University, has organized its three-day annual conference, this year entitled "Globalization and Its Implications for Management Development". CEEMAN’s 15th annual conference has gathered 173 participants from 36 countries of Europe, North and Latin America and Asia.
The conference, opened by Prof. Danica Purg, CEEMAN President and IEDC Dean and President, and Prof. Nakiye Boyacigiller, Sabanci University Faculty of Management Dean, focused on leadership development issues and challenges in the context of the globalizing world economy. It explored what makes the current globalization process different from the ones the world has witnessed in the past and sketched the new world that we are heading towards. Whether driving these changes, or responding to them, businesses are facing the need for a new generation of leaders, those who be capable of leading their companies towards achieving and sustaining global competitiveness, while at the same time acting as agents of social change and transformation on both local and global scale. This imposes new challenges for business schools and other management development institutions.
Prof. Chan Kim from INSEAD with his world famous Blue Ocean Strategy, and Dr. Ichak Adizes, Founder and CEO of the Adizes Institute, USA, were the keynote speakers of the conference. Other prominent academic leaders such as Prof. Jean-Pierre Lehmann, professor at IMD Lausanne, Switzerland, and founding director of the Evian Group, Prof. Jonathan Gosling, Director of Centre for Leadership Studies, University of Exeter, UK, corporate leaders, such as Muhtar Kent, President and Chief Operating Officer of The Coca Cola Company, as well as outstanding panel of Turkish business leaders, provided their thoughts on these topics and inspired further discussion.
Part of the CEEMAN conference was also a seminar on CEEMAN Accreditation IQA (International Quality Accreditation) that is starting to work on the new scheme.
