Knowledge for business success

Program structure

General Management Program is a five week intensive program organized in two modules.
The module I (two weeks) covers topics from the main business functional areas.
The module II (two weeks + Project Week) concentrates on integrated topics and development of skills. The second module is completed by the graduation ceremony, where participants are awarded by a Certificate of Completion.

In-between modules participants work on data and information gathering and their analysis, development of findings, conclusions, recommendations, action plan, and deliver a draft of the project report.

On transfer day participants discuss with the mentor about key learning lessons from the first module, their progress on the project, challenges they are currently facing, and open issues related to the project.

The Project

The GMP Project is a key component of the IEDC GMP – it contributes significantly to the learning process of the participant while simultaneously providing the sponsoring organization with a significant, meaningful and tangible output. Specifically, the GMP Project:

  • Provides participants the opportunity to apply the GMP princples, tools, frameworks and methodologies to the practical challenges their organizations are facing,
  • Secures the support of academic and practioner mentors to address complex managerial challenges and provides guidance on how to present solutions to management & leadership teams,
  • Creates an environment for peer group inputs to individual challenges, bolstering the emphasis on teamwork which is a constant feature of GMP.

In sum, the GMP Project represents a practical and well structured solution to a particular management challenge that a Programme participant has  identified in their own organization. It provides an opportunity for participants to apply their newly acquired skills and concepts under the supervision of project mentors and they are guided towards preparing a presentation to their corporate guests. The final project report consists of an analysis of a practical solution to the management problem identified and provides a concrete plan of action based upon analysis and recommendations.

Learning Methods

Participants will experience learning through:

  • put what they learn into action through a problem-solving project for their company/organization.

Project Based Learning provides a powerful tool for instant application and demonstration of newly-acquired knowledge and skills while delivering real solution and immediate payback for the company.

The highly-intensive program timetable makes an “in-residence” stay necessary. Class hours usually start at 8:30 to 17:00 with breaks; classes are run from Monday through Saturday.
Participants are also exposed to a mandatory reading and preparation in the evenings for the next day (typically 3 – 4 hours).
