Prof Peet Venter is a Professor of Strategy at the University of South Africa’s Graduate School of Business Leadership. Prior to his academic career, Prof Venter spent 10 years working for Telkom, in various marketing and strategic positions. His experience includes involvement in marketing intelligence, market segmentation, competitive strategy, Business Process Reengineering, competitive intelligence, and product management. He has held various teaching positions teaching finance, strategy and marketing at the University of South Africa, University of Wales, and the Open University (UK), and has held several academic leadership positions, most recently as Academic Director at the GSBL (2023-2025).
Prof Venter has published widely in the fields of strategy and marketing and is the editor and author of three successful strategy and marketing textbooks. He was appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of the Southern African Business Review in January 2022.
Prof Venter has consulted on a part time basis to various companies in a variety of industries and countries. Completed projects include competitive simulation, market mapping, market sizing, strategic market planning, market segmentation, customer needs research and competitive profiling.
