Ljubljana, 7 July 2022: H.E. Eduardo Prisco Paraiso Ramos, Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Slovenia awarded Prof. Dr. Danica Purg, Founder and President of IEDC - Bled School of Management, with the Order of Rio Branco. This is the highest possible decoration of the Brazilian state for a foreign national and is awarded to eminent personalities who have made a significant contribution to strengthening international cooperation and friendship between the two countries, Slovenia and Brazil.
The award has so far been conferred to a number of important individuals in the world, in Slovenia to Dr. Tamara Lah Turnšek, Dr. Boštjan Žekš and Mr. Bogdan Šalej and now to Prof. Dr. Danica Purg.
In her address Prof. Danica Purg said: “I am honoured to receive the Order of Rio Branco by H.E. Eduardo Prisco Paraiso Ramos, Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Slovenia.
Brazil became for many reasons a special country to me. It is where IEDC-Bled School of Management organized its first international program for top executives from BAE systems in Rio de Janeiro. Particularly, this city got a special place in my life, because in 2010 I received there the award “International Educator of the Year” from the Academy of International Business (AIB).
We are proud of our cooperation with Brazil, with which we collaborate through IEDC and CEEMAN, The International Association for Management Development Dynamic Societies and The Alliance of Management Development Associations in Emerging Economies.
We shall strengthen ties between Slovenia and Brazil even more in the future, also through economic and scientific diplomacy, as there is so much that we can learn from each other. With the Rio Branco order, I shall proudly act as an ambassador of both countries for the benefit of mutual growth and development of responsible management education around the world. Muito obrigada, I feel very honoured!”
Congratulations to Prof. Purg!
