Prof. Hans P. Borgman

University of Amsterdam

Prof. Dr. Hans P. Borgman is Full Professor of Information Systems & Digital Business at the University of Amsterdam, where he also serves as Academic Director for International Affairs and the QTEM program. A seasoned academic leader, he has over 30 years of experience in research, program development, and international collaboration.

At the University of Amsterdam, Prof. Borgman designed and led the accreditation of the MSc in Business Information Technology Management (launching in 2025) and introduced the successful ‘digital business’ track in the MScBA. He is a six-time recipient of teaching awards and has consistently received top student evaluations.

Previously, he was Full Professor at ESC Rennes (France), where he directed doctoral programs and built international Executive DBA partnerships with institutions in China, Brazil, and Europe. From 2001 to 2017, he held a professorship at Leiden University, where he co-founded the Leiden University School of Management, developed accredited MSc and MBA programs, and led several EU and World Bank-funded research projects.

Prof. Borgman also held long-standing roles at Erasmus University Rotterdam and visiting appointments at the University of Michigan and ebs University in Germany. His research focuses on IT governance, digital transformation, and technology adoption, with over 50 peer-reviewed publications and several best paper awards.

Outside academia, he has served as a board member at Lufthansa Systems AG and consulted globally for major corporations and public institutions. Prof. Borgman earned his PhD from Erasmus University and MSc from the University of Groningen.
