Dr. Heinrich Balazs is an expert and researcher of family businesses. He has published several internationally acknowledged articles on the leadership and succession dilemmas of family businesses. His special focus has also been on the strategies of family wineries in Hungary.
He started his academic career at the University of Miskolc in 1993, after international studies in Utrecht Netherlands and doctoral studies in Buffalo, New York. He has obtained his PhD (1999) and habilitation (2008) also at the University of Miskolc.
He has joined the now Budapest University of Economics and Business in 2009 and became the dean of the Faculty of Finance and Accountancy, and in 2016 the rector of the university for eight years. He had served as a vice president of the Hungarian Rectors' Forum. Currently he is the head of the Doctoral School of Entrepreneurship and Business.
He has also been the visiting pprofessor of Babes Bolyai University Cluj and Université Catholic de Lille in the last decades.
Next to his academic career he has pursued a consultancy work in the last 30 years at Human Telex Consulting, being involved in several leadership and organizational development projects at multinational companies like BOSCH, Unilever, Citibank, NOKIA etc. He has also worked on leadership development projects of Raiffeisen Bank in the Balkans.
