Ivan Papič

President, Slovenian Human Resource Association

Mr Papič is an experienced HR and IT professional with over 20 years of experience in employee development, talent identification and development, performance management, improvement systems, employer branding and HR consulting area on strategic and operational levels with over ten years of experience in managing positions in different companies.

He started his career in 2000 as an HR consultant at the Slovenian IT distributor company MAOP and stayed for a few months only when a new opportunity to work for an international company arrived. Then, he joined IDS Scheer Slovenia as an SAP HR Consultant and stayed until 2003. Here, he was the key consultant for HRM projects for the biggest Slovenian companies in the field of telecommunications and manufacturing. After SAP PY implementation, Mr Papič received an offer from Iskratel. He took the opportunity and became an SAP HRM Internal Consultant. He was also good in analytics and reporting; therefore, he was providing support and solutions for the internal payroll department. In 2004, the position of Head of Payroll and Statutory Department was offered to the candidate, with additional responsibility for salary policy and labor legislation, while he became responsible for the strategic establishment of the new HR statutory.

In 2007, Mr. Papič took over the role of the Business Applications Manager, where his responsibilities were the selection of applications useful for the company’s needs, full procurement for IT solutions and services, development and maintenance for SAP HR module users, and also responsibility for budgeting HC and labor costs on the group company level.

Mr Papič was promoted to the position of Head of HR and IT in 2012 and soon after, in 2013, the position of Director of Human Resources and Legal Affairs.

He was a big contributor to the company’s culture change activities and participated in creating a new company strategy and values, as well as creating and implementing HR strategy and policy for Iskratel Group.

He was looking for a new, fresh start after 13 years of being employed at the company Iskratel and joined the Slovenian steel manufacturing company SIJ as a Director of Human Resources. This was a group-level position, he was responsible for managing HR strategy, internal policies, and organizational regulations. He was managing career development and training and leading trade union negotiations. After family issues among the owners, he decided to look for a new challenge and he found one at the world-recognized glass manufacturing company, Steklarna Hrastnik, where he took over the position of Director of HR, IT, and GA. Mr Papič was working a lot on the transformation of the HR strategy with a big focus on talent management, career development for management positions, and employer branding. After four years in Steklarna Hrastnik, he was looking for a new career challenge and received an opportunity in the Slovenian National Railway company as a Head of Legal Affairs and HR with a focus on talent management, digitalization of all HR processes, new HR strategy and employee engagement projects.

In May 2022, he joined the IT company Avtenta d.o.o. as SAP Project Manager and was, after nine months, promoted to the SAP Consulting Manager position, executing department reorganization and creating strategy for the SAP department.
