Skopje (Macedonia) and Bled (Slovenia) 11 - 12 May 2016: Five teams representing some of the leading Macedonian companies and organizations participated in a two-day IEDC Case Study Competition (CSC), organized by IEDC Alumni Club Macedonia. The winning team is the one from British American Tobacco.

IEDC–Bled School of Management (Slovenia) and its Alumni Club Macedonia organized the forth IEDC Case Study Competition between five Macedonian companies: ITgma DOO, Bionika Pharmaceuticals, Faculty of Economics, British American Tobacco and NLB Tutunska Banka. The Case Study Competition is highly interactive 2-day contest organized by alumni clubs in the respective countries. In a limited time, cross-functional teams from different companies show their best talent, creativity, teamwork and endurance while analyzing and solving a real business case.

Prof. Nenad Filipović, Academic Director at IEDC-Bled School of Management, led the competition jury and announced that the winning team is the one from British American Tobacco. The winning team was awarded by a three-day MBA course to be held in September 2016 at the IEDC-Bled School of Management. They will also have a chance to compete for an ultimate prize at the Global Case Study Competition against the winners coming from other countries.

The members of the winning team are:

  • Elena Manovska
  • Bledar Harizi
  • Shendbart Ilia
  • Kamela Dani
  • Gent Kastrati
  • Labinot Krasniqi

The winning team said: “In our opinion it was an incredible experience. We were able to learn a lot in a short time. We worked hard as a team and at the end it paid off”.

“Based on our opinion it was one of the best experiences until now. We had a real life time thought decision making under time pressure. We are looking forward to be part of IEDC in the future.

The jury members Xhevahir Menedi, Ylli Marku, IEDC MBA alumni, and Prof. Nenad Filipović, IEDC had a tough work, deciding which team prepared the best solution. “The main goal of the competition is to provide participants, who usually are junior and middle management, a perspective on what the business decision-making and business realities look like. It promotes also a different type of thinking when approaching business dilemmas. As the exercise is very intense and people work under stress, team work, exchange of ideas as well as the company culture does help participants to come up with the best solution they can. The Case Study Competition of course also gives participants and companies a sense of what business education is like and what kind of quality of education a school, like IEDC – Bled School of Management, which I’m a graduate of, can provide,” stresses the member of Alumni Club Macedonia, Ante Poposki.
