Learning Experience

Designed for individuals with inquisitive minds and passion for knowledge

The doctoral program incorporates 180 ECTS or 5,400 hours of direct and indirect study. All course work is conducted during
the first 2 years. The 3rd year is allotted to research, dissertation writing and dissertation defense. Candidates work
individually with internationally acclaimed mentors and benefit from interactive research seminars throughout the program.

1st year

  • 4 required courses
  • 1 research seminar
  • submission of the research proposal

2nd year

  • 2 elective courses
  • 2 research seminars
  • submission of an article for publication in an internationally recognised academic journal

3rd year

  • 1 research seminar
  • research work on doctoral dissertation
  • dissertation defense

Requirements for advancing

In order to advance from the first to the second year, doctoral students must complete all four required courses, attend the research seminar, publicly present their research proposal and obtain approval of the doctoral dissertation proposal.

In order to advance from the second to the third year, doctoral students must complete two elective courses, attend two research seminars and submit an article for publication in an international academic journal. The submission must be approved by the mentor, but acceptance for publication is not the condition for advancing, since review periods might be prohibitively long.
