Danica Purg takes over the position of Acting Chair of the UN PRME Steering Committee. The Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) is a United Nations-supported initiative founded in 2007 as a platform to raise the profile of sustainability in schools around the world

Bled (Slovenia) and New York (USA), December 17, 2019: PRME - Principles for Responsible Management Education,  that brings together more than 800 business schools and universities from around the world, has named Prof. Danica Purg, Dean and President of the IEDC - Bled School of Management and President of CEEMAN, as Acting Chair of the UN PRME Steering Committee.

The UN PRME has been operating since 2007 and brings together more than 800 business schools and universities from around the world. It was created at the initiative of the largest global network on corporate social responsibility and sustainable development - United Nations Global Compact - based in New York. Former UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon is the main founder of UN PRME. The UN PRME Committee is based on universal values and principles, whose common goal is to encourage business schools to integrate the concepts of sustainable development and social responsibility in their educational and research activities.

Prof. Danica Purg has took the role of Acting Chair of the UN PRME Steering Committee from 15 December 2019 to 30 June 2020. Her main task will be to appoint members for a PRME Interim Management Council and thereafter, PRME will develop a new governance structure.

For 11 years, Prof. Purg was President of UN Global Compact Slovenia. In 2013, Prof. Danica Purg was nominated Chair of the PRME (Principles of Responsible Management Education) Steering Committee.

For the 2016/17 cycle, IEDC was the only business school from the CEE region to gain the title of a PRME Champion, undertaking advanced tasks and game changing projects that responded to systemic challenges faced by the PRME community, as well as to key issues identified by the United Nations and the UN Global Compact.
