IEDC hosts Academy of Management (AOM) specialized conference at IEDC on Responsible Leadership in Rising Economies
230 world’s top management researchers gathered in Bled to explore Responsible Leadership in Rising Economies

Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., USA and Bled, Slovenia, October 25, 2019 – Management researchers from 45 countries have gathered at an Academy of Management (AOM) specialized conference at IEDC – Bled School of Management in Slovenia from October 23 to 25, 2019. 230 researchers, professors and doctoral students presented their research on what responsible leadership means in the context of a rapidly changing world, particularly in rising and transforming economies.

"We are honoured to have been able to host the AOM specialised Conference at IEDC. This is great achievement, as it was organised for the first time in Europe. At the conference, we explored the various ways in which academics from management development field can work with companies, politicians, NGOs, media representatives and other stakeholders for more responsible leadership and sustainable innovation. Through initiatives such as the CEEMAN Manifesto we are committed to continue developing responsible leaders and conduct relevant research for them. »said Prof. Danica Purg, Dean and President of IEDC - Bled School of Management and President of CEEMAN.

The three-day conference, looked at the topics of Responsible Leadership in Rising Economies through the lens of five distinct management perspectives:

  • Implications for Management Education
  • Responsible Leadership and Organizational Behavior
  • Responsible and Sustainable Innovation
  • Transformative Ethics, Governance and Stakeholder Horizons for Advancing Leadership and Responsibility
  • Strategic Management and Sustainable Development

The conference featured distinctive speakers, among them Dr. Danilo Türk, former President of Slovenia and UN Assistant Secretary General, Therese Noorlander, Sustainability Director in Coca-Cola Europe and James P. Walsh, Gerald and Esther Carey Professor of Business Administration, University of Michigan.  

Anne Tsui, Peter McKiernan and Danica Purg discussed how the Responsible Research in Business and Management (RRBM) initiative and the CEEMAN Manifesto may contribute to research on responsible leadership that will meet the needs of organizations, employees and society in rising economies.
